A.D.S.L vs. S.D.S.L.

What does it mean?

A.D.S.L. (Asymmetric DSL) is DSL service that provides users with a higher download speed than upload speed.  This service is perfect for normal surfing and internet applications.

S.D.S.L. (Symmetric DSL) is DSL service that provides the same speed for both downloads and uploads. This service is preferred by many webmasters, gamers and those who frequently upload large files.

* Service not available in all areas.  Contact our business office at 626-7111 for pricing and availability information regarding S.D.S.L.*

Dial Up Internet

What is PemTel Internet Service?

PemTel Internet is Pembroke Telephone Cooperative’s service linking your personal computer directly to the internet. We provide a Point-to-Point (PPP) account which connects you to the Internet with high speed data transmission lines. Subscribers dial a local access number to connect to our 56kbps modems.

What is included?

Start-up software applications and tools for IBM Windows compatible personal computers and Apple Macintosh.

Installation and connection instructions with continuing technical support at no additional charge.

What do I need to connect?

You will need a personal computer or other device that can connect to the Internet. We offer software and support for IBM compatible PC’s with Windows or an Apple Macintosh. You can use any computer capable of supporting Internet Protocol (IP).

You need a modem. We recommend a quality V.92 modem capable of communicating at 56kbps.

You need a phone line. If you have Call Waiting, you need the cancel call waiting feature so that your PemTel Internet connection is not interrupted. You also have the option of adding an additional telephone line in your home.
