Caller ID dramatically enhances your privacy and security. Notes: Subscription to Caller ID with Call Waiting requires a special display telephone or an add-on display unit. If the letter "P" or "Private" appears on your screen, the caller may have blocked the display of his or her number. You can choose whether or not to answer the call. If "Unknown Number" appears, the caller is calling from an area or equipment where the information is not available. Will not work with calls originating from an area or long distance carrier where this feature is not provided or from 800, 877, 888, or 900 prefix numbers and some cellular numbers.
